A content creator died after eating a devil crab, a type of poisonous crab, in Barangay Luzviminda, Puerto Princesa City. Emma Amit's family reportedly caught the crabs from the waters of Sitio Tacduan on February 4, but they were unaware of their dangers.

Amit even vlogged cooking the crabs they caught at sea. According to Barangay Chief Laddy Gemang, "They caught the crabs at sea and cooked them last night. The next day, they cooked the remaining crabs—and one of them was a devil crab."

Amit was not the only one who ate the dangerous crab; his friend also experienced symptoms. “While Amit was eating, his friend from Barangay Mangingisda came and offered him food. When he ate the devil crab, his mouth went numb and he never ate again,” Gemang added. Amit’s friend was even taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with poisoning.

Amit, on the other hand, lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved and died on February 6. According to the barangay, seven devil crab shells were found in the family's trash. This is the third case of poisoning in their area due to the same type of crab.

The barangay and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) advised everyone to avoid devil crab due to its deadly poison. Some of the symptoms of poisoning are numbness of the tongue and mouth, difficulty breathing, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, and death. Immediately go to the nearest hospital if you experience these symptoms.
