More than 400,000 people have been affected by Typhoon Basyang after it lashed various parts of the country, according to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Due to heavy rains and flooding, thousands of families were forced to evacuate to ensure their safety.

According to the agency's records, up to 467,242 individuals or 131,961 families were directly affected by the typhoon. Of this number, 16,297 people are currently staying in evacuation centers, while 25,822 are temporarily staying outside designated evacuation areas.

There have also been deaths, although verification of the official number is still ongoing as validation of reports from local governments continues. At the same time, several areas have implemented suspension of classes and work to prevent further risk to the public.

The storm also had a significant impact on infrastructure, with hundreds of houses partially damaged and several completely destroyed. delays in port traffic were also recorded, stranding passengers, cargo, and vessels.

In response, the government continues to provide immediate help and relief assistance, which has reached more than P18 million. Authorities assured that rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts will continue until the affected communities fully recover.
