A 48-year-old man died after being beaten and stabbed with a banana cue stick by a father and son in Brgy. Kay-buto, Tanay, Rizal on Sunday, February 1.
According to the investigation by the Tanay Municipal Police, the fight started when one of the suspects refused to obey the victim's order to chain his motorcycle last Friday. The 28-year-old suspect, a tricycle driver, said: “He was trying to chain me, I didn't comply. He suddenly stepped on me and then stabbed me.”
On Sunday afternoon, the father and his son met on Macarulay Street, which led to a fierce confrontation. The victim was armed with a balisong, while the father had a banana cue stick. Amid the chaos, the son responded and also punched the victim. According to duty investigator Mst. Sgt. Danilo Morales Jr., “That's when the father got angry because he was fighting with his son. That's when they helped the victim.”
Due to deep stab wounds to the neck and chest, the victim was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital. The father and son were also injured, suffering stab wounds to the mouth, arm, and shoulder. The father was arrested while receiving treatment at the hospital, while the son was apprehended during an operation conducted in Pililla, Rizal.
Although the father and son insisted that their action was self-defense, they are still facing a murder case. The father and son are currently detained at the custodial facility of the Tanay Police, while the victim is buried at their home. The victim's family declined to comment on the incident.
