Cha Eun-woo, one of South Korea's most popular actors and singers, has personally apologized following allegations of tax evasion. He announced on Instagram that he is willing to cooperate with all relevant processes to resolve the issue.
In his message, Eun-woo said he apologizes to those who were affected and shocked by the recent events. He added that he used this opportunity to reflect on his duty as a citizen, especially paying taxes.
The 28-year-old actor clarified that his military service that began in July 2025 was not done to avoid controversy. “Last year, I could no longer postpone entering military service, so I enlisted even though the tax investigation had not yet been completed,” he explained.
He added that he feels the responsibility for any misunderstanding and wants to personally apologize to those affected if he is not currently a soldier. According to South Korean law, almost all men under 30 are required to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months.
In conclusion, Eun-woo assured that he will continue with the tax-related processes and will take full responsibility for the decisions of the authorities. He also promised to reflect more carefully and live with greater accountability, as a gesture of gratitude for the love of his fans.
