An airport worker at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 was arrested after joking about bombs on January 26. According to the report, the incident occurred during a manual inspection at the airport, where the employee made a statement related to explosives.

Due to the joke, the airport security screener immediately responded, emphasizing that any mention of bombs or explosives inside the airport is considered a serious security breach and carries corresponding legal liability. Standard security protocols were followed to ensure everyone's safety.

The Aviation Security Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit conducted clearing and sniffing operations, and later declared the area safe from any explosive or incendiary materials. No threat was found, but authorities remained on high alert.

Those involved were brought to the NAIA Police Station 3 for proper disposition. A criminal complaint is being prepared against the airport worker for violation of Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code or Unjust Vexation, and he remains in police custody.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded that bomb jokes are never funny inside the airport. The public was urged to be responsible in their speech, as such statements compromise the security and safety of the public at airport facilities.
