A large shipment from Congo was seized by personnel of the Bureau of Customs–NAIA, worth P114.5 million. The shipment was declared as malachite stones, but an x-ray scan revealed suspicious images, prompting further inspection.

According to the BOC, the inspection uncovered four boxes containing suspected illegal drugs weighing 4,320g, 3,622g, 4,599g, and 4,307g, for a total weight of 16,848 grams. These drugs are possibly shabu, based on the BOC's photos and report.

After the seizure, the seized drugs were turned over to PDEA, along with the individuals involved in the illegal importation. This action is part of the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and smuggling in the country.

Those involved in the incident are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. These laws aim to protect the country from drugs and illegal goods.

At Glamritz, we emphasize the importance of being alert and knowledgeable in such situations. This news is a reminder that customs and law enforcement are actively working for the safety and security of everyone.
