US President Donald Trump has expanded his travel ban, banning people from seven new countries including Syria and those with Palestinian Authority passports.
According to the White House, the ban is for foreigners who "potentially pose a threat" to Americans and to prevent those who pose a threat to US culture and government.
Refugee groups have criticized the move, saying it exacerbates the plight of the vulnerable and further endangers people in already precarious situations.
Other countries on the travel ban include poor African countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Laos in Southeast Asia.
Trump is known for emphasizing strict anti-immigration policies and using harsh language against non-white new Americans.
