
Wicked: For Good is expected to earn over $200 million in its global opening weekend. It could set a new record for film adaptations of Broadway musicals.
According to Deadline, the film could earn $125M–$150M domestic from 4,000 theaters in the US and Canada, and over $70M worldwide. This beats the first Wicked which opened to $112.5M domestic and $164M global.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will return as Glinda and Elphaba in the sequel. In the story, Elphaba runs as the “Wicked Witch of the West,” while Glinda is credited as “Glinda the Good.”
The two's friendship continues to be tested as they face the arrival of Dorothy, which will bring new challenges to their world.
