NBA legends LeBron James and Stephen Curry have confirmed that they have no plans to join Team USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. They shared this in a joint interview following their 2025 NBA Finals matchup.
LeBron, who will be 43 in 2028, said he would prioritize his family and NBA career. He joked, “You know my answer. I’ll watch in Cabo.” Curry, who will be 40, also said the 2024 Paris Olympics would be the “perfect capstone” of his international career. He added, “Never say never, but it’s vague. It’s very vague.”
With their decision, it's clear that a generational shift is beginning for Team USA. With the two biggest names gone, it's time for younger players like Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton, and Anthony Edwards to lead the LA Games.
For LeBron and Curry, this is a passing of the torch. They don't need to go beyond what they did before. They want to give a new generation a chance to chase Olympic gold for their own country.
