How to Pay Travel Tax Using the eGovPH App

Paying travel tax can be stressful before your flight, especially if there is a long line at the counter. But now, it is easier for Filipinos as it can now be paid through the eGovPH app.

On the Travel page of the app, there is a new section for Philippine Travel Tax Services where you can pay your full travel tax. When you tap on it, you will be taken to a page where you need to fill in the required information for your payment.

Some details will be automatically filled in, such as your name, passport number, mobile number, email address, and the amount you are paying. The travel tax is P1,620 for Economy or Business Class and P2,700 for First Class. You will also need to enter your ticket or booking reference number, airline, destination, and departure date.

After that, press "Save Passenger," and you will be taken to the page to finalize your details. Note that there is a P50 processing fee for the transaction, and if you use a credit card or Grab Pay, there is an additional fee of 1.4% of the total amount.

When you're ready, you can choose a payment method, such as e-wallet, credit or debit cards, or bank transfer. In the Philippines, travel tax is a fee imposed by the government on individuals leaving the country. There are times when it can be reduced for certain travelers, such as dependents of overseas Filipino workers.

Currently, 50% of travel tax collection goes to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, 40% to the Commission on Higher Education, and 10% to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Some airlines already include the travel tax in the total ticket price when booking online or through a travel agent. Aside from the eGovPH app, you can also pay it online before your flight on the TIEZA website, or on the day of your flight at the TIEZA Travel Tax counter at airports.
