Juan Ponce Enrile, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel, is in the ICU due to pneumonia, according to Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday, November 11.
Estrada, who is affiliated with Enrile in the pork barrel scam, said he has a reliable source about the veteran senator's condition. “I heard from a reliable source that his chances of survival are slim. I hope we can all join in a brief prayer,” Estrada said.
A request for confirmation from the Palace, but no response yet on Enrile's condition. Enrile is 101 years old, and is the oldest member of the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Enrile last appeared in public during the proclamation of the final case against him. He attended the session via Zoom, lying in a hospital bed, and was later acquitted in the plunder case.
Enrile is known for his long political career, including his role in Martial Law and the People Power Revolution.
