The Philippines is under a state of national calamity after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared it due to the severe damage caused by Typhoon Tino. The death toll has reached 142 people dead and 127 missing as Cebu and parts of Negros continue to recover.

According to Marcos, 10 to 12 regions were severely affected, so the declaration is needed to expedite the release of funds and aid to the victims. He also said that they are monitoring Typhoon Uwan, which could be stronger.

Marcos has allocated ₱760 million in financial assistance for the provinces hit hardest by Tino. Among those who will receive ₱50 million each are Cebu, Capiz, Surigao del Norte, Iloilo, Bohol, and Negros Occidental. Other provinces will receive from ₱10 million to ₱40 million, depending on the severity of the damage.

Almost 2 million people were affected in the Visayas and Mindanao, according to the NDRRMC. Many homes and schools were damaged, including more than 1,000 homes and 267 classrooms that were completely destroyed by the typhoon.

The church continues to appeal to the public to provide donations and aid to the victims. Donations can be brought to churches and relief centers in Cebu and nearby areas.
