
A special BMW R18 Transcontinental signed by Pope Leo XIV has been successfully sold at an auction for ₱8.9 million. The unique motorcycle was donated by BMW to help children's projects in Madagascar.
The auction was held on October 18, 2025, where many motorcycle enthusiasts sought to acquire the historic unit. In the end, it was sold for a huge amount in support of charity projects in the said country.
According to Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad, it is a great honor for them to see that Pope Leo XIV's signature on the BMW R18 has helped a good cause. He also expressed his gratitude to the new owner who now owns a one-of-a-kind motorcycle.
The ₱8.9 million raised from the auction will be used to fund projects that will help children in need in Madagascar. This is an example of combining passion for motorcycles and caring for others.
