The news of the death of a judge in Cebu in a motorcycle accident has shocked many. Many are asking why he does not drive his own car despite holding a high position in the government.
Carmela Rosario Pasquin, judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Pinamungajan-Aloguinsan, has her own vehicle but chooses to commute. According to the UP College of Law, she believes that public servants should live simply and that it is unfair to the taxpayers to spend excessively.
Pasquin died on October 22 after a motorcycle accident on his way home from work. He left behind a legacy of integrity, generosity, and dedication, which will continue to inspire students and teachers.
Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro paid tribute to the judge as a model of humility and hard work. She said Pasquin was always the first to arrive and the last to leave work, a model of loyalty and dedication to service.
"Your memory will remain in the lives of many people and in the stories we hold in our hearts. Even though I only met you once, your hard work and concern continue to be an inspiration to everyone," said Baricuatro.
