The NBI-Cavite North District Office arrested seven people — four foreigners and three Filipinos — in a raid in Bacoor City, Cavite. The operation was conducted past 11 p.m. on October 15, 2025 in Barangay Panapaan. Authorities were served with a warrant to search and seize computer data.
The leader of the group was identified as a Chinese national named “Daye.” Two Malaysians, one Indonesian, and three Filipino accomplices were arrested with him. According to NBI-CAVIDO North Chief Atty. Cesar Eric Nuqui, they obtained evidence with the help of computer experts that proved computer-related fraud.
The suspects are allegedly involved in online romance scam and cryptocurrency investment fraud. Some post as women to gain the trust of victims before demanding money. After receiving the money, they immediately block the people.
According to barangay officials, this is the second time this has happened in the area. The NBI seized five computers, more than 100 cellphones, and several storage devices containing data related to the scam.
The suspects will face charges under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (R.A. 10175) and Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (R.A. 12010). They are currently detained at the NBI Detention Facility in Muntinlupa City while the investigation continues.
