
The University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons earned their second consecutive win in the UAAP Season 88 after defeating the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 66-59, in a match held at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Saturday.
UP took the lead after a strong 22-2 run from the third to the fourth quarter capped by a jumper by Harold Alarcon. During this run, NU struggled and never recovered.
Francis Nnoruka led the Maroons with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal. Gani Stevens also contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Alarcon and Miguel Yniguez added 8 points each.
For NU, Nash Enriquez led the way with 16 points and 4 assists, while Gelo Santiago also reached double digits with 10 points.
The win gave UP a 2-2 record, following their victory over University of the East. Meanwhile, NU's hot start to the season ended.
