The 15-year-old Tiffany Reyes showed off her skills after scoring a game-winner for the Gilas Women U-16 over South Korea, 77-75, in the FIBA U-16 Women’s Asia Cup in Seremban, Malaysia.
Reyes, who was celebrating his birthday, did not disappoint in the final minute. From a 60-69 deficit, South Korea caught up and took a 75-74 lead, but Reyes' clutch play gave the Philippines their first win and moved up to third place in Group A.
Reyes listed 16 points (₱924), including four threes, three rebounds, and four blocks. This is higher than the 12 points (₱693) he had in the loss to Chinese-Taipei. He is now among the top 4 3-point shooters of the tournament.
"Thanks to the trust of my teammates and coach, I was able to score the win. I just have to be consistent and always ready," said Reyes.
Gilas Women will once again face China for the semifinal qualification. Reyes is confident: “My priority is to help the team. We must always be ready. We will do our best in the next game.”
