A 26-year-old man has been charged with estafa, perjury, and obstruction of justice in connection with the P50 million Rolex scam in Quezon City, police said.
The transaction took place on July 7 in the parking area of a coffee shop in C-5, Barangay Bagumbayan. The suspect, identified as Xian, sold three Rolex watches for P50 million. The buyers paid in cash, but it was discovered that most of the money was counterfeit, and only 20 pieces were genuine ₱1,000 bills.
Investigators also discovered falsehoods in Xian's account, including the false statement that the Rolex Rainbow Daytona worth ₱40.5 million was owned by a “Mr. Zshornack.”
On August 29, his accomplice Gianan filed an estafa complaint against Xian after Xian allegedly failed to return his ₱2 million investment.
On September 4, the police also filed a separate case against Xian for perjury and obstruction of justice at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.
