The fire broke out in Happyland, Barangay 105, Tondo on Saturday night. It started past eight o'clock and quickly reached Task Force Bravo before 11:00 p.m.. More than 28 firetrucks responded to put out the flames.
According to some residents, the fire spread quickly and many belongings were lost. Lorie Mae Cansino said she had to run from Moriones to Happyland when she heard about the incident. “It was so hard, many more belongings were lost. It was all stolen, but at least we are all safe,” she said.
Cansino added that the situation is difficult, especially since she is pregnant. “I hope the government can help us move quickly,” she said.
An estimated 100 families lost their homes and belongings. In the previous fire on August 6, up to 4,000 people or 873 families were affected. Now, residents are once again facing a major blow and are hoping for help to recover.
