Former DPWH Bulacan Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez was transferred to the Pasay City Jail on Wednesday night from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
The Senate ordered his detention after he was cited for contempt for allegedly lying under oath to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigating ghost flood control projects.
The transfer took place at 8:50 p.m. Hernandez was accompanied by personnel from the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) and BJMP. He was wearing a bulletproof vest during the transfer.
According to his lawyer Atty. Ernest Levanza, "It is unfortunate that the Senate had to resort to extreme measures to transfer my client from the PNP Custodial Facility to the Pasay City Jail. This move appears to have ulterior motives and is akin to revenge."
The Blue Ribbon Committee is still conducting hearings regarding irregularities in flood control projects where Hernandez is among those being investigated.
