The PAGCOR database containing 500,000 names of people not allowed to enter and play in casinos has been hacked. According to Alejandro Tengco, chairman and CEO of PAGCOR, the incident was discovered yesterday afternoon and may have originated from one of the licensed casinos.
The list includes people who have voluntarily filed for bankruptcy, or who have been asked to do so by their families, due to problem gambling. Also on the list are several government officials, who are clearly prohibited by law from entering and playing in casinos in the Philippines.
Tengco assured that they are investigating the possible source of the leak and asked all casinos to provide photos and records of those who registered using aliases or fake names.
During the hearing, it emerged that some engineers from the DPWH were given VIP IDs by the casino, which were used to enter and gamble even though it was illegal. Tengco said the Presidential Decree is clear that no employee or government official can enter the casino.
He added that even elected officials will be included in the investigation to ensure that the law is strictly implemented.
