
Three people, including the suspect, were killed after a shooting incident this Sunday morning in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. It happened around 8:30 a.m. in Olympia Subdivision, Brgy. Labas.
According to police, they responded quickly after receiving a 911 call about an ongoing shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a man lying face down while the 60-year-old suspect continued to fire with a .38 caliber revolver. Police forced the suspect to surrender but he continued to shoot at them, resulting in a encounter.
Before this, the suspect shot his 50-year-old nephew in the head and followed his 65-year-old neighbor, believed to be his first target, until he also died in the hospital. All victims and the suspect were taken to Santa Rosa Community Hospital, but were declared dead on arrival.
Based on the investigation, the suspect and his neighbor had a long-standing feud. He was also previously involved in drugs and had been in rehab. According to the suspect's daughter, Mary Rose, her cousin always pushed and threatened her to go back to rehab.
A police mobile patrol vehicle was also injured in the shooting. According to police, additional casualties were avoided because they responded within just four minutes after receiving the call.
