Two Chinese businessmen, alias “Wang”, 43, from Brgy. Santol, Bulacan and alias “Yang”, 52, from Binondo, Manila, were arrested in Valenzuela City. They were found to have conspired to pose as carnapping victims to obtain insurance.
According to police, “Wang” was reported to have hijacked his Toyota Fortuner on August 17 in front of Jade Garden Subdivision in Brgy. Marulas, Valenzuela. Investigation revealed that the SUV was involved in a traffic accident and was at an auto repair shop in Caloocan City.
On August 21, “Yang” was seen driving another Toyota Fortuner using the license plate of “Wang”’s SUV, which was reportedly stolen. It was learned that “Wang” also owned the vehicle driven by “Yang” and that the two conspired to obtain insurance.
The two will face charges of perjury, illegal transfer of license plates, and insurance fraud at the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office. The police are preparing the proper process for the indictment of their fraudulent activities.
