Senator Erwin Tulfo wants the DOJ to charge contractors, DPWH officials, and some politicians involved in ghost and substandard flood control projects. According to Tulfo, trillions of pesos of public money were stolen, so they should be held accountable.
He said that there is enough evidence from the revelations of the President and Senator Ping Lacson to charge and imprison the “thieves.” He gave an example, if a shoplifter who only took a few pesos is imprisoned, those who stole trillions worth of money from the government should be punished more.
Based on the DPWH report, P1.2 trillion has been spent since 2022 until now for flood control. Fifteen contractors shared the funds, and many of their projects were sloppily constructed.
Some of the contractors that rented licenses are Legacy Construction, Alpha and Omega Contractors, St. Timothy Construction, EGB Construction, and Road Edge Trading. Meanwhile, three are involved in ghost projects in Bulacan: Wawao Construction, Symp Construction, and Darcy and Anna Builders & Trading.
Sen. Tulfo believes that all those involved should be held accountable, especially since millions of pesos of public funds were wasted on shoddy and fake projects.
