The Palace has once again criticized Vice President Sara Duterte after she insisted that her job as former secretary of education was done well. According to Press Officer Claire Castro, Duterte himself admitted that he had no knowledge of the curriculum that was implemented.
Castro said it was clear from Duterte's statements in 2023 that he was relying solely on his officials because he had no background in the education sector. Castro also pointed out that Duterte lacks expertise in creating the Matagat curriculum, the new program that aims to focus on core subjects.
Castro also mentioned the undelivered millions of gadgets and laptops, as well as the more than ₱100 million spent on fake students. He insisted that the false information being spread by Duterte is only to overthrow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and to take over as president.
Duterte resigned as DepEd Secretary in 2024, confirming his complete separation from the administration. Since then, his criticism against the government has become intense.
He is currently facing allegations of corruption in connection with the alleged misuse of funds in the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education.
