Designer Sean Wotherspoon has once again shown off his unique work with a 1958 Land Rover Series 2. Together with his partner Jimmy Howson, they presented the new look of the vehicle at Monterey Car Week after their previous project with the Porsche 2.7 RS.
First built in England and shipped to Canada in 1959, the left-hand-drive 2.25 petrol spent nearly four decades with its original owner before returning to the UK in 2002. It was never road registered and is now one of only six remaining Series 2 LHDs in the UK—only three of which are in their original chassis.
Howson bought the car this year and restored it in Essex from March to July before bringing it to the U.S. for display. Many of the original panels have been retained, but an additional engine and gearbox rebuild, Wolf alloy wheels, CarPlay system, and new rear seating with speakers have been added.
This project showcases Wotherspoon's signature—a fusion of heritage and modern design. While his Porsche project focused on color and detail, this Land Rover finds a balance of originality and subtle upgrades, breathing new life into a British classic utility vehicle.
