The official was caught watching online cockfighting during the voting for the new House Speaker. The man was not identified because his back was to the camera, but his glasses were visible on his forehead as he focused on his phone.
A clearer picture also emerged showing the fight with the text, “1st Fight Left Side” and “2nd Fight Right Side.” The post garnered over 64,000 reactions (51,000 “Haha” and 9,000 “Angry”), 4,500 comments, and 7,200 shares. Many netizens created memes, while others expressed their disappointment.
At the same time, the issue of the missing sabungeros has flared up again, after information was obtained that bodies were allegedly dumped in Taal Lake. The authorities' investigation is still ongoing.
Ultimately, House Speaker Martin Romualdez was re-elected to the 20th Congress with 269 votes, following President Bongbong Marcos' fourth SONA, where he promised to hold accountable those behind the disappearance of the sabungeros.
