The DepEd announced a plan for make-up classes after a week-long suspension of classes caused by heavy rains, flooding, and a series of typhoons. According to Education Secretary Sonny Angara, the impact of not holding make-up classes will be significant.
“We plan make-up classes so that our students don't get caught. Without this, it would be a big loss for them,” said Angara in an ambush interview.
It will be recalled that classes were suspended from Monday to Saturday last week due to heavy rains that caused flooding in many areas. Classes only returned to normal this past Monday.
Angara clarified that it depends on the school and the teachers' schedule how make-up classes will be conducted. They may add time on weekdays or hold Saturday classes.
He added, teachers' rest periods will be taken into account while planning the schedule so that they do not get tired.
