The bus overturning incident in Bilar, Bohol left 15 passengers injured on Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025. According to reports, the bus lost control while traversing a sharp curve of the national highway.
The Southern Star bus with license plate JVL 125 and body number 12076 was traveling from Carmen to Tagbilaran City. Around 8:40 a.m., the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the steering wheel. As a result, the bus overturned and fell to the side of the road.
According to Staff Sergeant Mark Christian Villagonzalo, desk officer of the Bilar Police Station, the driver lost control while negotiating a curve. As a result, the bus could not be saved and immediately overturned.
Rescuers from the Bilar Rescue Unit immediately responded to the scene. The injured passengers were brought to hospitals in Tagbilaran City for immediate treatment.
Following the incident, motorists were reminded to be especially careful on curved parts of the road to avoid such accidents.
