Kiwami has opened its third branch at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay, following its first two locations at Alabang Town Center and Bonifacio Global City. Kiwami began operations in 2022, as Metro Manila gradually began to recover from the pandemic.
According to Nicole Concepcion, their brand manager, Kiwami serves Filipino favorites such as ramen, sushi, sashimi, maki, and others. She also shared that the idea for Kiwami started after her family tasted delicious Japanese food at a small restaurant in Japan.
There are five kitchens at Kiwami offering authentic Japanese flavors. These include Ippudo for ramen and yakitori, Koyo by Chef Mark Manaloto, Hannosuke for tempura, Fukuda and Hachibei for special occasions, and the Hokkaido Soft Cream for a sweet dessert.
Their Salmon Tare on skewers and tempura tendon sets are popular with guests. Also not to be missed are the Ippudo ramen with 15-hour pork bone broth and Yabu katsu sets. There are table guides for proper eating of the koyo handroll and to keep the nori wrap crispy.
For those who want to try something different, Hachibei's yakitori and Hibachi plates are recommended, cooked with binchotan charcoal for a more delicious and smoky flavor.
