A 32-year-old man was arrested after impersonating a police officer to intimidate a woman who owed him P20,000 in Barangay East Rembo, Taguig City. This happened past 11 p.m. on June 30. According to PMaj Cherrylyn Agtarap, the victim immediately reported the matter to police patrolling the area.
When the police approached, they saw the man wearing a jacket with a fake PNP logo. They asked him for his PNP ID, but he failed to show any. They seized from him a Caliber .45 gun, a sachet of suspected illegal drugs, a cellphone, two two-way radios, and the fake uniform.
The suspect is facing charges of usurpation of authority, violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. PMaj Agtarap reminds people to be cautious of those impersonating police officers and ensure that they are legitimate.
