A 41-year-old man and three-year-old child drowned in separate incidents in Quezon on June 29 and 30, according to police.
In Barangay Mangero, San Andres, “Jessie” went swimming alone in the sea after drinking around 2 p.m. While swimming, strong waves pulled her into the deep end. Her companions searched for her for hours, until her body was found on the shore of Barangay Pansoy. It is believed that she drowned.
In Barangay San Juan, Panukulan, a girl named Neriah was found floating in seawater behind their house on Sunday morning. Her mother immediately rushed her to the health center but she was declared dead on arrival.
Police are treating both cases as drowning incidents. However, the child's remains will undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
