The 34 sabangeros who have been missing since 2021 are dead and allegedly buried in Taal Lake, according to one of the suspects who wants to be state witness. In an interview with GMA News' "24 Oras," the suspect, alias Totoy, said that the victims were strangled with wire.
According to Totoy, threats to his family prompted him to speak out. He promised to name the mastermind of the crime at the right time. He also said the victims were all cheating in the cockfighting, which is why they were targeted.
Totoy added, they surrendered the victims to another group which he did not name. He also admitted that there are drug lords also buried in the same place — Taal Lake.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently working to return to custody six security guards who were previously charged with kidnapping and illegal detention by drug traffickers.
The Court of Appeals has granted the prosecution's request to revoke the bail of suspects Julie Patidongan, Gleer Codilla, Mark Carlo Zabala, Virgilio Bayog, Johnry Consolacion, and Roberto Matillano Jr.
