A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was shot by an unknown assailant while playing on the terrace of her house in Brgy. Ayuti, Lucban, Quezon.
The victim, alias “Jane,” was with her brother when the suspect arrived wearing a red hoodie and riding a Honda Click motorcycle. He suddenly fired a gun at around 1:50 p.m., using a caliber .45, hitting the child in the right arm and stomach.
Jane was immediately taken to MMG Hospital for treatment. The suspect fled after the shooting, and is now being pursued by authorities.
Police are looking into the possibility that there was personal grudge against the child's father, who is said to be a police officer, so it is possible that the child was targeted in retaliation.
The Lucban PNP investigation is continuing to determine who is behind the heinous crime and what the real motive for the shooting is.
