A pregnant minor was rescued while a man was arrested in a buy-bust operation by the NBI-Cebu District Office in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City on Monday, June 16.
The suspect was identified as Alvin Tabanas Plando, 37, who was caught at his house in Sitio Manga. According to the report, he was selling illegal drugs. Seized from him was an estimated ₱243,000 worth of suspected shabu.
A 16-year-old pregnant woman was also seen in the area. According to her, she only went home after her boyfriend, who is said to be Plando's cousin, was arrested. She also tested positive for drug use.
According to the NBI, there was a report that Plando was allegedly using minors to repack shabu in exchange for payment. Agent-in-Charge Arnel Pura said that this was worrisome so they took immediate action. It has not yet been confirmed whether the said pregnant woman was part of the operation.
Plando is facing charges under Republic Act 9165, while the minor will be referred to DSWD for appropriate assistance and action. Plando vehemently denied the allegations, calling them mere rumors.
