The body of a baby boy was discovered in a pile of trash on the side of the road in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig, on Tuesday afternoon. According to Jhon Cagas, a resident, he was already dead when he found him at Blk 34, Kalayaan St. corner Eusebio Avenue.
According to him, he immediately called 911 after seeing the baby wrapped in plastic and uncovered. He covered it with a blue cloth as a sign of respect. Many residents began wearing face masks because of the pungent smell, which they initially thought was just from rotten fish.
Someone allegedly saw a car pass by in the alley and run over the garbage, causing the plastic bag containing the baby to come out. People wondered why it wasn't picked up immediately, even though the police and barangay were already there.
According to the report of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, the baby was seven months old and was declared dead by medical responders. It took almost half a day before the funeral home retrieved it due to lack of documents and no relatives came forward.
Now, the barangay is taking care of a decent burial for the baby while the investigation into who left him is ongoing. The public is urged to provide information if anyone recognizes or has information about the incident.
