A newly released man from Bilibid was caught in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal on Wednesday night, June 4, 2025. P700,000 worth of shabu and a rifle with ammunition were confiscated from him.
According to the police, the suspect was released on May 10, 2025 after being imprisoned in 2018 for drugs and illegal firearms. While still in prison, he allegedly had connections with drug suppliers. He was under surveillance for two weeks after the police received information.
Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun said that the suspect's source of drugs was from his former Bilibid associate who was previously released in April.
The operation yielded three sachets of shabu weighing 100 grams, as well as a gun with ammunition. The suspect is considered a high-value individual in drugs.
The suspect's defense is that the seized drugs and guns do not belong to him. He admitted to being a former user, but said he did not sell. A drug case, illegal firearms, and violation of the gun ban will be filed against him.
