Former Lagayan Mayor Jendricks Luna was shot in Barangay Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra on Tuesday morning. He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead.
Bangued police are currently investigating the suspects and the motive for the shooting. Luna is the son of former congresswoman Cecilia Luna and ran for Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the last elections, but did not win.
The Philippine National Police has taken action by reactivating Task Force Abra to prevent unrest before the 2025 midterm elections in the province.
