A Korean man wanted for kidnapping and assault was caught by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Pasay City on May 22. He was identified as Jang Seongwoong, 47 years old, who has been wanted for a long time in South Korea.
According to Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, Jang has an Interpol red notice and has been on the BI's blacklist since 2021 as an undesirable alien. He reportedly arrived in the country as a tourist in 2017 and never left, so he is considered overstaying.
In the report, Jang and several accomplices allegedly confined and beat a Korean man with a baseball bat over gambling debts. The case was filed against him at the Daegu District Court in 2019.
