President Marcos has once again stated that he does not want Vice President Sara Duterte to be impeached, days before the impeachment trial begins in the Senate. He said, "Why do I have to explain that I do not want impeachment?"
According to a Pulse Asia survey, half of Filipinos do not agree with the impeachment of Duterte. In the survey conducted from May 6 to 9, 50% opposed the impeachment, while only 28% were in favor.
Some members of the House of Representatives also did not accept the survey as the basis for the case. Rep. Rodge Gutierrez, one of the prosecutors, said that one should not rely solely on public opinion because this is a constitutional process.
Meanwhile, Marcos denied calls for his resignation as president. He said he is not afraid to face problems and plans to review the performance of officials to improve government services.
