A teacher in China has drawn criticism online after slapping and threatening 10-year-old student Ranran. According to reports, the child sprayed his teacher with a water gun because he was not given a candy reward for good behavior.
Teacher Lin, a 59-year-old math teacher, took Ranran to the office and allegedly threw her out of the third-floor window. The incident was captured on CCTV, where Lin also grabbed the child by the collar as she left.
When Ranran returned home, her father, Chen, noticed swelling and bruising on the child's face and body. According to the child, he had been slapped repeatedly. When Chen confronted Lin, he denied the injury.
The Education Bureau confirmed on May 18 that Lin was responsible. He apologized, but was still given a formal warning and administrative detention. In an interview, he said he had no intention of harming and loved his students.
Although Ranran's wounds have healed, according to her father, the child is now afraid to go to school and has developed a fear of teachers. Many netizens were outraged by the teacher's actions, while others also blamed the child and parents for the lack of discipline.
