The tragedy occurred on Tuesday in Barangay Balangibang, Polangui, Albay where two drivers died after a passenger bus and a truck loaded with ice collided.
Based on the investigation, the Hino truck was traveling along Maharlika Highway towards Legazpi City at around 5:50 p.m. when its front tire exploded. The truck lost control and ended up colliding with a Bobis Liner, a Manila-bound bus carrying more than 50 passengers.
Due to the force of the collision, both drivers were killed. The bus driver was identified as Benedict Onrobia of Barangay Canaway, Malilipot, Albay. The identity of the truck driver has not yet been determined.
Fifteen passengers of the bus sustained serious injuries and were immediately brought to the Jose B. Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City. Meanwhile, the other passengers were given first aid and were also sent home.
The investigation by authorities is ongoing to determine the full details of the incident.
