A Chinese national posing as a Filipino was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Cebu. He was identified as Wang Chaoxin, 32 years old, and was caught on May 14 while running a trading company using a fake identity.
Wang was accompanied by four other Chinese nationals who also violated the conditions of their stay in the country. Three of them had working visas but were working for a company not listed on their documents. One did not have any work permit.
According to BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, the operation was conducted following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to protect the country's sovereignty against foreigners engaging in illegal activities.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Wang was in possession of a fake birth certificate, driver’s license, and also registered his business under a Filipino-sounding name. The AFP and NBI collaborated in the operation to catch Wang and his associates.
The BI reminded the public to be vigilant against foreigners who may be using false identities to evade the law. Investigations are ongoing as they deal with immigration cases.
