
The tragedy in Barangay 628, Manila claimed the lives of two young cousins after their house caught fire on Monday afternoon. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Manila, it was past ten o'clock in the evening when the bodies of the victims were found buried under debris.
A massive fire destroyed more than 50 houses, leaving 220 families homeless. It reached the fourth alarm and took more than three hours before the fire was declared "under control." According to the BFP, the possible cause of the incident was electrical.
The fire was not easy to put out due to strong winds, according to Fire Insp. Cesar Babante of BFP-Manila. More than 30 fire trucks responded to the fire.
The affected families are temporarily staying in three evacuation centers. The LGU, MSWDO, and several volunteers provided assistance such as food, hygiene kits, grocery items, and clothing.
Residents' greatest needs now are water, mattresses, and blankets. The value of damaged property is estimated at P400,000.
