
A building in Batasan Hills, Quezon City caught fire early Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025. The fire broke out at around 4:05 a.m. in the three-story building on Sampaguita Street. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the third floor was rented by a Chinese person on April 3.
After extinguishing the fire at around 4:42 a.m., police conducted clearing operations. On the third floor, they discovered electronic devices and equipment such as 3 desktops, 2 CPUs, Huawei router, laptop, cellphone, 5,757 SIM cards, and 9 text blasters.
Also found was a Chinese passport under the alias “Liu” from Chongqing, China. There was also a Philippine ID under the alias “Christine,” who is said to be the daughter of the building owner. Upon contacting the Bureau of Immigration, it was learned that Liu arrived in the country on February 22, 2025, using a 9G visa and has no record of violations.
According to QCPD's PMaj. Jennifer Gannaban, Liu was reportedly on vacation when the incident occurred. Based on the initial report by the Anti-Cybercrime Group, Liu was among the former POGO employees who have been fired.
