A man who robbed a bank in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig was arrested by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday, May 5. According to Police Major General Anthony Aberin, the 54-year-old suspect entered the bank at around 3:36 p.m. and was not suspected because he was a regular customer of the bank. The guards did not search him, so he entered with a gun in his bag. After requesting to use a CR, he declared a holdup upon exiting.
After the holdup, a teller activated an alarm switch connected to Taguig Sub-Station 2. Police officers responded immediately and engaged the suspect, who was pointing a gun at the neck of a bank officer. After a short while, the police officers recovered the gun and subdued the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect were a 9mm pistol, a motorcycle, and more than P7 million in stolen property. The Southern Police District is now looking into whether there was an inside job involved in the incident and is also reviewing CCTV footage to determine if anyone was with the suspect.
