A jeep crashed into two concrete barriers on Marcos Highway, Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, Rizal on Saturday night, past 7 p.m., leaving five passenger was injured. The 50-year-old driver said he was coming from Cubao to Cogeo when a motorcycle suddenly swerved in front of him.
“I applied the brake but the brake was loose… so I honked my horn to get away from him. But when we came to the U-Turn, I avoided him until I hit the barrier,” said the driver.
According to Nolie Viñas, a traffic enforcer from the Office of Public Safety and Security Antipolo, four passengers suffered minor injuries, while a woman was taken to the hospital due to a wound on her right leg.
In addition to the two concrete barriers, part of the gutter was also affected. The driver admitted that he regularly checks the jeep before traveling, and their operator is ready to cover the damages. For now, the jeep and driver were brought to the Antipolo Police Community Precinct 1, and he may face a complaint of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injuries and Damage to Property.
