The cat Mirage was the sole survivor of a tragic incident in which two people fell off a 115-meter cliff in Utah, USA. According to the Best Friends Animal Society, the cat was found alive in a broken black carrier near the bodies of couple Matthew Nannen (45) and Bailee Crane (58).
Mirage was rescued Tuesday night and immediately taken to an animal facility. Despite the collapse, Mirage was eating, drinking, and still friendly when examined by veterinarians. He is estimated to be 12 years old.
The team said the cat was slightly sore and had matted fur, but there were no abnormalities in his bloodwork. They are still awaiting the results of an x-ray to determine if he has any other injuries.
The incident occurred inside Bryce Canyon National Park, a popular tourist attraction in Utah. According to reports, the couple fell between Monday and Tuesday, but Mirage was found alive later that night.
Now that Mirage is safe, he continues to be cared for and monitored by Best Friends Animal Society. His story serves as a light in the midst of tragedy.
