A police officer linked to a rape case voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in connection with an incident that occurred at a motel in Quezon City in January. The suspect was identified as “Patrolman Mendoza,” who was immediately taken into custody by the agency to continue formal investigation.
According to the NBI, the suspect's surrender was made to cooperate with the existing legal process. However, the police camp insisted that his step does not mean an admission of guilt. They also vehemently denied the allegation that something was spiked in the complainant's drink before he lost consciousness.
The case stemmed from a complaint by a woman using the alias “Anna,” who said she was taken advantage of after passing out over a drink. Currently, the NBI is set to return the warrant of arrest to the court as the suspect faces a rape case, which is being closely monitored by the public and authorities.
