The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that Interpol has requested additional documents in connection with the government's petition for a red notice against former congressman Zaldy Co. This request is part of the normal process to fill in the necessary details before Interpol can make a decision.
The NBI emphasized that there is a deadline until February 11 to submit the requested documents. It also pointed out that this is not an indication of Interpol's judgment in the case, but rather a routine clarification that is usually done in such requests.
The NBI hopes that once the documents from the DOJ, Ombudsman, and Sandiganbayan are submitted, Interpol will immediately take action on the long-pending red notice request. Complete documentation is essential to expedite the decision.
Meanwhile, the NBI manhunt against Zaldy Co. According to the agency, there are leads being monitored regarding his possible whereabouts, while coordination with local and international partners continues to effect the arrest once the red notice is issued.
